Macanese songstress Maria Cordero introduces fans to the delights of Malaysian street food at 金博宝Resorts World 金博宝Genting.
Not content with singing her heart out as she performs with Frances Yip and Elisa Chan in the show Crazy Funny Asian Divas,to be held on 10 August 2019 at the Arena of Stars,Resort World 金博宝Genting,Maria Cordero will also be getting up close and personal with her fans at a special ‘eat-travaganza' at Malaysian Food Street.Malaysian Food Street is a food court paradise conceptualized by Resorts World 金博宝Genting,where notable hawkers serve up food gems from the best of local fare.It is located at level four,SkyAvenue.
In conjunction with her show,Macanese songstress Maria Cordero will be meeting fans and savouring notable Malaysian street food favourites at a special meet and greet session which will be part of 金博宝Resorts World 金博宝Genting's Food Festival Month.Held on 7 and 8 August,the two sessions will see Cordero touring Malaysian Food Street,chatting with the hawkers to learn their food preparation secrets,and then joining fans for a meal.
The vivacious Cordero,who has performed regularly in Malaysia,is both foodie and a deft hand in the kitchen.She has hosted Hong Kong's cooking programmeGood Cheap Eats,and when on tour in Malaysia in 2017,shared her intentions to experiment with Malaysian cuisines when back 188bet存款home.She has always been appreciative of the food served to her in Malaysia,and has come to develop an interest in local cuisine."Doing this promotion at Malaysian Food Street is a good way for me to eat all I want,and call it part of my job,"jokes the effervescent,dynamic entertainer."On a more serious note,I believe food unites people.While I also believe that music and entertainment unites people,with food,at least two groups of people are doing the same thing together!I'm excited to learn how some of Malaysia's best street foods are prepared.I'm going to be trying to charm the hawkers to give me their secrets,which may benefit all the 188bet存款home cooks who come to the meet and greet!"
Cordero sampled Penang prawn mee,Penang fried kuey teow,Wan Tan noodles,Curry Pork Ribs,and Hainanese Chicken Rice.While sampling the food she spoke at length with prawn mee expert Choo Kim Choon,kuey teow maestro Googgle Man,curry pork ribs buff Chef Leong and wan tan mee star,Koon Kee to tease out their tricks of the trade,and to find out what make their dishes stand out from regular hawkers.She also sampled pork meatball porridge and claypot chicken rice from the stalls of Hon Kee Porridge and Mun
Kee Claypot Chicken Rice respectively,as well as Hokkien mee from Loong Kee,Pork Noodle from OUG Seafood Pork Noodle,and claypot bak kut teh from Klang Bak Kut Teh.

Kee Hiong Klang Bak Kut Teh is a brand name which has been around for 25 years,with the stalls now being operated by the third generation of the Teh family.Kee Hiong Klang Bak Kut Teh is renowned for the rich,deep taste of its soup,which comes from over ten types of traditional herbs.The ‘Googgle Man' who fries up Penang's best char kuey teow in Lorong Selamat,Georgetown,is named for the protective eyewear he uses when working over his smoking hot pan.The char kuey teow recipe is over 20 years old,and has been passed from father to son.Tneh Leng Guan,aka Googgle Man,says that the soy sauce is an important part of the preparation,as it is specially made and adds an extra dimension of taste to the dish.
Kedai Kopi Choo Kim Choon's Penang prawn mee is made to a 40 year old recipe which has been passed down three generations.The secret of its spicy broth,springy yellow noodles,boiled egg slices,and fried onions may just be passed on to Cordero by current operator,Wan Ban Wah.
Koon Kee Wantan Mee has been in operation since 1941 in Petaling Street.The dish was very popular in Guangzhou,and was brought over to Malaysia 70 over years ago.The noodles are handmade,using egg,following the recipe Lee Sau Mei learnt from her father-in-law.She has now passed it onto her son.Hon Kee Famous Porridge has also got a woman to thank for its success.Vivian Wong inherited the recipe that her father got from his father.The porridge is made special by the use of crispy fish intestines and fresh flounder.
Hailed from Ipoh,the Ipoh Hor Fun is a signature dish made popular by Ipoh's taugeh or beansprouts and chicken with special recipe of soya sauce.This dish was founded by Mr Ngo Kok Fei in 1984.He served noodles which is the flat rice noodles with crunchy beansprouts and sliced chicken.
The Resorts World 金博宝Genting Malaysian Food Street Tour Special runs from August 1 to 16 2019,excluding Saturdays and Sundays.It is priced at RM39 for adults and RM19 for kids.The all-you-can-eat promo is limited to participating stalls,and runs from 5pm till 8pm.
Diners may re-order multiples of the same dish,but only one item per kiosk can be redeemed at one time.A stamp issued at the counter is necessary to show participation of the promotion.金博宝Genting Rewards Card holders can use their cards to redeem entry passes from August 1-16 2019.Each cardholder is entitled to one entry pass,and is limited to one voucher per customer,per day.Vouchers are to be used on the day of issue from 5pm – 8pm. This promotion will continue every Wednesday during the Jazzy Wednesday promotion which will end this October.Price and time of buffet dinner at the Malaysian Food Street is as earlier stipulated.
