Renowned chef Alvin Leung spearheads the menu at Fuhu in 金博宝Resorts World 金博宝Genting.
LUCK is the operative word when one visits 金博宝Genting Highlands, especially for those trying their hand at the casinos.
But when you connect being lucky with the auspiciousness of the tiger in Chinese culture, you get "Fuhu"(meaning "lucky tiger"in Mandarin),Zouk Group's new "vibe"restaurant and bar offering modern Chinese cuisine at SkyAvenue,金博宝Resorts World 金博宝Genting.
Flanked by Zouk's clubs — Zouk 金博宝Genting and Empire,as well as its social gaming lounge RedTail and RedTail Karaoke on the ground floor,Fuhu positions itself as an experiential dining venue that pleases the senses.
Brick red panels and gold letters of the restaurant's name emblazon the entrance, and glass walls with Chinese characters greet diners as they are transported into a mysterious walkway which plays on chinoiserie decor, reminiscent of traditional Chinese apothecaries.
All this is juxtaposed against a wondrous garden pathway illuminated by artful lighting and pop art graffiti towards the restaurant, culminating in a visually stunning life-sized sakura tree looming over guests in the main dining area.
Sticky Lamb Shank
If that is not besotting enough, striking floor-to-ceiling murals hand-painted by famous graffiti artist Kenji Chai brings the story of Lady Meng and the tiger to life.
Rosewood chairs as well as Ming Dynasty-style blue and white porcelain motifs coexist with leatherette banquettes to exude a 1980s supper club feel.
Decor aside,Fuhu's menu, more importantly,is curated by renowned chef Alvin Leung,a.k.a.the "Demon Chef",famed for his inventive dishes and for promoting the "Chinese X-treme Cuisine"concept.
His flagship restaurant Bo Innovation in Hong Kong has garnered three Michelin stars and he was one of the judges on Masterchef Canada.
"I have opened fine dining as well as Chinese restaurants, but nothing that makes me feel young again.
"Fuhu came about because we wanted to do something for the youths,so it is modern Chinese food but not molecular. We want people to have fun eating and look forward to coming here,"said Leung, just before hitting the gong to welcome members of the media to Fuhu's launch and food tasting session.
Bon Bon Chicken
Fuhu's menu lends to both multiple rounds of grazing or filling Chinese meals, complete with rice and dishes.
Leung pays homage to different Asian influences, fusing dishes and flavours from around the world.
We were treated to dishes like Wasabi Prawn Toast,Petite Short Rib Pot Stickers,Salt & Pepper Tofu,Roasted Eggplant with Miso Glaze,Chop Suey Lo Hei,Boston Lobster Noodles and Bon Bon Chicken.
On the table were also Sticky Lamb Shank,Jasmine Tea Smoked Soy Chicken Roll,Crispy Aromatic Duck,The General's Fried Chicken,Black Cod with Asian Pesto,Lemongrass and Cherry Tomato as well as Duck Essence Porridge, topped with decadent desserts of Double Sundae,Coconut Affogato and Bubble Mango Pomelo Sago.
"Diners can enjoy something different at Fuhu, unlike food which they have all the time.
"We feature about 10 of the best Chinese dishes from the United Kingdom and United States, dishes normally enjoyed outside of China,"added Leung.

Fuhu's bar is another attraction, helmed by chief mixologist Saam Pranill, who has 20 years of experience creating cocktails at top bars across Asia.
The cocktail menu has mostly Asian influences where each drink uses a unique vessel like a Chinese tea set, copper cup and a glass smoke pipe,hand-picked from different antique shops in the region.
Zouk Group food and beverage director Riku Lek said Fuhu formed part of Zouk's complete experience.
"Zouk is big in 金博宝Genting, where the clubbing and dining scene is in sync with the vibe.

"Our guests can enjoy a pre-party drink at Zouk's Red Tail bar, dinner at Fuhu and then party on at Zouk,"he said.
Fuhu is pork-free and operates from Monday to Sunday, from 6pm to 1am.
